One of the greatest things about going to a traditional, seven-week summer camp is that a boy gets to do everything! Since 1947, Camp Takajo in Naples, Maine has been known for its dynamic programs and exceptional facilities, which combine to offer boys a breadth of experience that is unique in camping. By spending seven weeks together, boys form a bond that leads to some of their most enduring and cherished friendships.

Going to sleep-away camp in Maine is an incredible experience – and an important choice that spans many summers. Make sure it’s a camp with a solid reputation, experienced leadership and unmatched attention to detail.
One of the greatest things about going to a traditional, seven-week summer camp is that a boy gets to do everything! Having sufficient numbers in each age group creates flexibility in our bunk groupings and allows boys to engage athletically and socially with boys their own age.
Takajo counselors are hired to teach activities in which they have playing and/or coaching experience. We also bring in outside, professional coaches to work with our campers in specialty sports clinics.
Building self-esteem and teaching children compassion, kindness and responsibility requires a special place with the right mentors. Independence grows, and the lessons endure when they are reinforced during seven weeks away from home.
Takajo has outstanding supervision with two male counselors and a female counselor carefully assigned to each bunk of seven or eight campers. Our primary focus is on a boy’s adjustment to camp and making him feel like he is at his “home away from home.”
